HP Slate PC specs rock the iPad boat!

Don’t like MAC and want a tablet PC with Windows 7 instead? No problem, HP’s Slate PC, first presented by Steve Ballmer at the CES2010, is the alternative to Apple’s iPad and more powerful. Although it might be a bit more expensive than the iPad, it will be cheaper than Apple’s iPad 3G that will be released later this month.

Slate PC: Impressive Specs

HP’s Slate PC has some very nice specs: A multitouch panel, Intel’s 1.6 Ghz Menlow Atom CPU, 1GB RAM and 32-64MB flash memory storage. On top of all that the HP Slate PC comes with a 3 Megapixel camera and a VGA webcam – a feature Apple’s iPad lacks. Wireless connections are possible via 802.11g or Bluetooth. The overall specs of the Slate PC are better than the specs of Apple’s iPad.

Instant Logon
The Hibernation feature that you know from Windows Vista and Windows 7 (enable Hibernation in Windows 7) will work with the HP Slate PC as well that is running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Faster than iPad
Apple’s iPad has a larger screen, but might be slower than HP’s Slate PC that is running on a 1.6 Ghz CPU (iPad CPU: 1Ghz).

Camera vs. Good Battery
The batteries of HP’s Slate PC are expected to last about 5 hours, while the batteries of Apple’s iPad are supposed to last approx. 10 hours, doubling the possible usage time of your mobile PC.

Ports:
A SD card reader, 3.5mm headphone connector, USB 2.0 port, dock connector (including HDMI out) and a conventional SIM card tray.

HDTV resolution
The HP Slate PC specs also reveal that HP is using Intel’s UMA graphic card chipset for their devices. The display supports 1080p video playback (1080p is HDTV resolution) giving you a crystal clear and sharp image.

HP Slate PC Price:

Because of the better specs, HP’s Slate PC will cost between $550 and $599 (more expensive than iPad).

HP Slate PC Release Date:

HP’s Slate PC is currently expected to ship in June 2010.

Conclusions:

So, overall it all comes down to the OS, Apps and features. Apple’s iPad has a better battery, but HP’s Slate PC has more power to run better games, resource-hungry applications and also includes extra features like a webcam and 3MP camera. Do you want a stylish iPad with a lot of useful iPhone Apps and iPad Games then get the iPad, but if you want something more powerful and don’t want to miss a camera wherever you go, then get HP’s Slate PC.

When you have your Slate PC you can start smashing your iPad:
