Yes, if you continue to use the Microsoft Windows Live products, you will always have this entry. The only solutions is to uninstall Windows Live products and look for alternatives, but since this is not a security problem there is absolutely no reason to do that.

Pro Tip: If you try to find a Windows share on Ubuntu you should make sure to delete all credentials in order to avoid any problems with cached credentials.
VIRTUALAPP/DIDLOGICAL This file or program has been found in credential manager. It appears to be connected with the user name and is shown as an administrator. I am being restricted from using many programs because I am being asked for a password which I do not have. Until this appeared on my pc I was the administrator but I am shown as a standard user. This is a BIG problem. You guidence did help me to correct this, but it never should have happened in the first place. I was in the middle of a fresh load and updates of Win7 and Office 2010. After the Win Live items were installed, (I only chose the IM and the Photo/Movie maker), this problem cropped up and I could no longer do updates, install programs or much of anything, it took over as the main admin of the PC. It wouldn’t even let me install Win 7 SP 1.

I recently changed my default browser to google. Now that I’ve learned what this entry is I’d like to know if changing/removing google browser & deleting the entry in credentials manager will eliminate the logging into my personal, and I thought, private pc. Have the “Bill of Rights” been totally abandoned from our government?

I think that I have finally figured this out, and it really is kind of scary. Basically, if you are using a commercial internet connection at a restaurant or hotel or another location where you are basically using someone else’s internet connection, this application will basically monitor your activity and record it for later access if you happen to break the law or say something that someone else does not like, VERY unsettling!

Saying it’s “no threat” isn’t sufficient. There should have been no credential inserted without my express permission, Not unstated, or “presumed”, but by a popup that specifically states that MS will be inserting this credential into my system, and subsequently asking my permission to do so.
Period. No ifs, ands, buts, or other excuses, nor for that matter, some condescending asshat attitude from MS. They’ve been quite silent about this and it takes an enormous amount of effort to even find posts such as the one to which I am responding.
Fact is, the only company that resembles the name in question is a company run out of China, which uses a network scheme that makes it appear to come from Germnay, which smells of espionage (corporate or otherwise). IFF it really is an internal MS identifier, it should have been selected accordingly.
Been a long time customer of MS (nearly 30 years and close to 150 computers installed with MS operating systems as a direct result of my choices, but this has me questioning my loyalty. Their paradigm is flawed and patently offensive.

Alas, the author provides absolutely no evidence that this is nothing to worry about, nor does he indicate how it was determined that it porvides any real functionality withing Windows Live, even if WL is the source of the infection.
“Generic credentials” provide open, unhindered access into all aspects of your system — data, applications, logs, everything.
Joe, thanks for the feedback but most only want to know the source of infection so they can get rid of the problem. I also nowhere state this entry is harmless, I only state that you will not get rid of the problem if you continue to use Windows Live products
Would “Edit” help? If I change the password, will they just ignore and set up a new V/D entry?
